Malaysia Online Passport Renewal 马来西亚网上护照更新经验分享

I am surprised to find out that Immigration Department of Malaysia has launched the online passport renewal service since 2011. This is probably a service that not many Malaysian aware of. I have tried this and would like to share my experience on Malaysia Online Passport Renewal here.

(我真的很惊讶地发现，马来西亚移民局在2011年已推出了网上护照更新服务 (Online Passport Renewal eService)。可是这种服务，不是很多马来西亚人知道, 每个月全国只有不到2000 人上网更新护照。我想在这里分享我的网上更新马来西亚护照的经验。基本上,只要4个简单的步骤 à 上传照片 à 填写资料 à信用卡付帐à打印收据)



1) Take a passport photo at the studio and request for a hardcopy and a softcopy in .jpeg format. Asked the photographer resize your passport photo into 396 x 532 with maximum 25kb. (This is the requirement posted)

Note: I noticed that the size of photo I upload is 928 x 1237 and 153kb. Maybe this is the reason why my application is being pending due to photo not clear. Luckily I bring along the hardcopy of my passport photo. The officer scan the photo on the spot and I was able to collect my passport in 30 minutes.

注：我上传的照片的尺寸为928 x1237 (153KB)。也许这就是为什么Officer 说我上传的照片不清晰的原因。幸运的是，我去拿护照当天有带护照照片, Officer 当场扫描, 30分钟后我就拿到新的护照了. 基本上,如果没有任何技术问题, 5 分钟就能拿到新的护照了

Your passport photo must be taken within 3 months before the date of application. Make sure you meet the photo requirements as follow… For application after 08 May 2013, please refer to

2) Go to http://www.imi.gov.my or you can search for “Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia” . Go to “ONLINE SERVICES” menu and select the Application for Renewal of Passport (MyOnline Passport) – else you can click on the link bellow:

3) Read through the “Term and Conditions” and scroll to the end of it, and click on “Agree” button. It will take you to next screen. Choose your passport renewal application category. Fill in your passport no. & Identity no. the click on “Search” button. Passport type and category field will come out automatically once your info matched.

(仔细阅读“条款和条件”，并点击“同意”按钮。它会带你到下一屏。选择您的护照Application Category. 填写您的护照及身份证号码。点击“搜索”按钮。护照类型和类别字段会自动出来)

4) You will then be taken to the next screen with a square box on top where you need to upload your passport photo and all your details automatically filled.

5) Click on the “Upload Image” button. Upload your passport photo. If your photo format is being accepted you are given a “crop” option to your photo. You can crop it to your desired size or you can just pull it to the maximum size and click on the “crop” button. (In my case, my passport photo do no require any modification so I drag the crop to maximum size and click on it). You must click on the “crop” button at least once so that the finish button will show up.

 (点击“Upload Image”按钮。上传你的护照照片。如果您的照片格式被接受，您将得到一个“Crop”选项. 您必须至少点击“Crop”按钮一次，“finish” 的按钮才会显示。)

6) Next screen with a passport photo example will prompt up and you have to tick on every required field before you can proceed. Caution: To violate photo provided specifications will result in your application will be rejected.

(屏幕会出现一张护照照片的例子让您做个比较，您必须勾选每一个必填字段，然后才能继续。注意：违反照片规格会导致您的申请被拒。)

7) Choose whether you would like to renew for 2 years (RM100) or 5 Years (RM300). Note : with effective from 2013, senior citizens & children 12 age and below -> 2 years (RM80) or 5 Years (RM150)

     选择更新2年（RM100）或5年（RM300）。注:2013年1月起生效 - 乐龄人士及12岁以下的儿童. 5年护照更新费从RM300减少到RM150. 2年期护照从RM100减少到RM80。
    

8) You are also required to fill in your phone number whereas email address is optional. Select the collection branch. I choose Presint 14 Putrajaya. Please note that not all branch listed in. Initially I want to choose Puchong Utama branch but can’t find in list. Hopefully, the immigration of Malaysiacan expand their collection branch to overseas like Singapore, Indonesia etc. as well in the future.

(您还需要填写您的手机号码。选择你要到哪里拿护照。我选择 Presint 14 Putrajaya。请注意，并非所有的Branch能在列表中找到。最初我想选择蒲种分行，但不能在列表中找到。希望移民局能赶快更新资料把新的Branch 给加进列表里面.)

9) Verify your details once more and select payment type. FPX mode of payment is currently unavailable due to maintenance work. You can use Credit Card (Visa or MasterCard) for payment.

再次确认您的资料，并选择付款类型。 FPX付款方式是目前无法使用。您可以使用信用卡（Visa或MasterCard）付款。

10) You will be navigated to Applicant Information window once your payment transaction is SUCCESSFUL. Click on “Print Receipt” to print out your receipt, you need it for collection.

付款交易成功后。点击“Print Receipt”，打印出收据。 

11) This is how my receipt looks like. Applicant has to be present at the selected Collection Immigration Branch Office with the necessary document (IC/old passport/Payment Receipt) to re-scan fingerprints for purpose of ePassport Extended Access Control (EAC). Production of passport will only be proceeding after the fingerprint re-scan.

依照收据上的日期, 时间和地点去拿您的护照。您要带你的 IC , 旧护照 , 还有您的付款收据一起。最好能带上一张护照照片以防万一。

22.09.2012 (Saturday) - 9:45am –

 I presented at PRESINT 14 PUTRAJAYA passport collection counter with my payment receipt. (no need to take queue number). The officer took around 5 minutes to look for my passport and ask me proceed to counter 1.

My application was pending due to my uploaded photo image look blur in their system. She request for a hardcopy of my passport photo. My passport was ready to collect in 30 minutes. If your application have no error, you can collect the passport in between 5 minutes.

直接到Collection Counter 示出您的付款收据（无需领取号码）。Officer 大约花了5分钟，找到我的申请，因我上传的照片看起来模糊而无法完成申请。Officer 当场扫描我带去的护照照片。30分钟后我成功的拿到新的护照了。如果您上传的照片没有错误，大概5分钟您就可以领到新护照了。

I felt really worth to try this Online Passport Application. It saves me a lot of traveling and waiting time. By the time I reach PRESINT 14 PUTRAJAYA immigration office at 9:45am, the queue number for today already finished but I can collect my passport within 30 minutes.

我觉得Online申请护照真的很方便。今天9:45am 才到PRESINT 14 PUTRAJAYA 移民局的我可以在30分钟后拿到我的护照。其它迟来的申请者因号码派完了,只能望门兴叹。我离开的时后,还有一大堆的申请者在排队等更新护照。
